Fire Safety Review – Stourwood House

The Directors of Stourwood House Ltd have decided to invite Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service to visit Stourwood House and review the fire safety arrangements within the building.

This is a proactive decision by the management company. We want to ensure that the fire safety measures currently in place remain appropriate and to establish whether any further improvements should be considered to bring the building as closely as reasonably practicable in line with current fire safety requirements and good practice.

As an older converted property, Stourwood House presents different considerations from a modern purpose-built block. We therefore believe that obtaining the direct input of the Fire and Rescue Service is a sensible and responsible step.

The visit will allow us to review our existing arrangements and determine whether any additional measures or works are recommended or required.

We appreciate that, if further works are identified, this could result in additional costs for leaseholders. No decisions regarding additional expenditure will be made until we understand what, if anything, is required.

As the management company, our priority must be to ensure that Stourwood House is managed responsibly, that our fire safety arrangements remain up to date, and most importantly, that we do everything reasonably possible to provide a safe building for everyone who lives here.

We will provide a further update following the Fire and Rescue Service's visit and once we have had an opportunity to consider any recommendations.

External Decoration Works

Works to the main house have now concluded. Sam from Harbour Painting Services attended on 20 August 2026 to carry out a final clean-up.

Sam has advised that, when the property next requires external decoration, the fascias and soffits should be replaced with plastic/uPVC due to the condition of the existing timber.

Garage & Frontage Works

Alan has begun work on the garages and will also be carrying out work to the bollards at the front of the property.

We will now place an official Stourwood House review for both cobtractors.

Fire Risk Assessment (FRA)

A Fire Risk Assessment was completed on 15 April 2026. The report identified a number of actions and recommendations to further improve fire safety within the building.

The remaining recommendations contained within the Fire Risk Assessment are currently under review by the Directors. Where appropriate, further quotations and professional advice will be obtained before any decisions are made regarding future works.
